<IR> Roundtable: The Value of Integrated Reporting

Review Workshop II «The Value of Integrated Reporting»

Companies continue to encounter a rapidly changing landscape. Investors, customers, employees, regulators and the general public consider long-term orientation, sustainability, transparency and stakeholder engagement to be topics that are not addressed by communication alone. On the contrary, there is strong demand for companies to make these issues essential components of their business model and value creation process. This is where Integrated Reporting (IR) comes in - as a reporting and management approach.

Together with Clariant, last year the Center for Corporate Reporting (CCR) initiated an IR Roundtable with regularly scheduled workshops. The second workshop on the «Value of Integrated Reporting» took place on 29 April 2016. Representatives from Finance and Accounting, Communications and Sustainability from companies such as Adecco, Clariant, Georg Fischer, Hoffmann-La Roche, Nestlé, Syngenta, Swiss Re und Zurich Insurance Group attended the fully booked event. In an intimate setting (Chatham House Rules) the participants and presenters of the best practice cases had a lively exchange and critical discussion on the added value of IR.

The speakers of The Crown Estate (UK), John Lelliott & Dr. Jeremy Osborn (EY UK) and Novo Nordisk (Denmark), Cora Olsen & Charlotte Bengt, gave valuable insights on Integrated Reporting based on their longstanding experience and their company-specific approaches. The presentations and discussions included topics such as the triggers for IR; the understanding of IR from a company perspective; the internal and external benefits of IR against the backdrop of stakeholder demands; success factors in implementation and the continuing challenges on the IR Journey.
