Can we ignore XBRL?
That was one of the questions raised in the XBRL workshop and has to be seen in the context of the European Securities and Market Authority plans to require IFRS Financial Reports be reported and filed in iXBRL by 2020.
Financial specialists of listed companies in Switzerland were interested in learning how this might influence their company in the future and therefore seized the opportunity of getting latest know how on the topic.
Two renown XBRL experts
We were able to win two renown experts for this workshop. Mohini Singh, CFA Institute New York, presented the transformational effect of XBRL for the financial reporting landscape while Ivana Kesten, RobecoSAM, Zurich, led us through their ESG data assessment process using XBRL.
Best Practice with Credit Suisse
Additionally, we shed light on the practitioner’s view. The Credit Suisse team of external reporting started to adopt XBRL in 2009. Their insights into their learnings with XBRL gave all participants a good impression of how such a journey could look like in practice with all the benefits and challenges that have to be mastered.
The Q+A session was very intense and the apéro riche provided the ideal opportunity for continued discussions and networking before the participants returned to their companies with a backpack full of useful know-how.
CCR corporate members will receive a summary of the main takeaways of this workshop in the coming days.
This workshop was conducted in cooperation with the CCR platinum partner MDD.
